SC2 - Snipers
I am on the project and I have been looking at the map and testing a few things out. Heres what I have discovered.
- Blinds/Glitches DO WORK! I have only found a few using this map layout, but with further testing.. I am sure we can find out even more.

- Pillars need proper sight blockers so then they will work correctly.

Greetings Savor! My friends and I of Fingerbang Inc. have created a map and would like your input on it! I've made a couple other posts about it throughout the forums. Here's a copy so you don't have to go searching!
Want to experience the nostalgia of SC1 Brood Wars custom map: Snipers? Look no further!
* Fingerbang Inc.* (Epin3phrin3, APFetus, Mafu, Insidious, and Sinaps) would like to present: IRSnipers!
IRSnipers is a custom map for SC2 made using the Starcraft 2 Galaxy Map Editor. The map terrain is based off the original Snipers map from SC1. We wanted to bring back the nostalgia and competition that was the original Snipers map, BUT we wanted to add 2 new modes and a couple of additional details that will hopefully balance gameplay and make the map seem more EVOLVED.
Team Blue vs. Team Green Game Modes Available: -Capture the Flag (-ctf) -Territory Control (-tc) -Drone (-dr)
* Mode Timer allows for Player 1 to choose 1 of 3 different modes to play.
* Points are rewarded for territories controlled, drone controlled, flag captures, and of course for kills.
Countless hours have gone into making the map including the terrain, triggers, and coming up with fresh new ideas. I know Galois1 and PhuckQ have also made a recreation of the map. I had kept it a secret for a while until I had seen their post recently. However, I don't want the SC2 UMS Community to be split between both our excellent maps. Therefore, this post is to inform the SC2 UMS Community of this upcoming map AND a request to Galois1 and PhuckQ to collaborate with Fingerbang Inc. to merge our ideas and make an even better Snipers map for SC2 that will be nostalgic AND evolved! Epin3phrin3 (Fingerbang Inc.)

Yeah I know who you are.. I am phuckQ on the sc2mapster website bro

Hey PhuckQ...i was wondering if you happen to know how to export the correct data to create the same flags in that other snipers map into mine. I have had some people wanting resources to be replaced by flags. I am thinking about integrating this into the next version. I tried and failed to export the correct data out of the map to create a flag in mine. I had a flag, but it was missing texture and I couldn't find a way to put the texture in the right spots. Many other people and I would appreciate your help. Thanks!

Good Job Jeff. Everything seems to be working now

Thanks Seph..appreciate your help with feedback and suggestions on the game!

SaVoR, have you been working with mavericK on his map, or is yours yet another different one?
EDIT: Also, wasn't this site supposed to be the new community site? Why did someone create a second one? What's the difference in the two?

This is his own map. I helped with the other map a little bit but I've been far too busy to worry about this game as of late.. the new map seems interesting but why the multiple versions of the same game? It would make more sense to just have one.

There have always been multiple sniper maps. Since post-upgrades, I don't know how many shitty tree maps I downloaded and played when I first started out. I imagine a lot of other people not tied to the Sniper community will try to make their own also, if this game takes off. Even since bald, there have been a lot of maps. Fort Snipers came around and lots of people loved that one, for example.
You should stick with your map, SaVoR, if you feel it's Snipers' best option. We may all love it. But you didn't answer my other question, why the separate forum?

Because nobody over there will listen to you in how the map should be, the map is way too big and i told him it needs to be smaller, the anti camp is dumb, the score is dumb - half switches at 100, goes to 200??? The terrain is so crowded with doodads that dont need to be there, 4v4 is overkill and makes the game boring.
Also why cant a real sniper who has played this game for say 8 years(guessing) make a map that he knows other ex-snipers will appreciate over a map made by someone that picked up the game just as starcraft 2 beta came out? We have seen what works and what hasn't over the years, and know how to make the best type of map possible.
Im very happy with what mav did and learning how to trigger the map and make his own. Mav made some of the best leagues and led some of the most known clans, he is the right guy to make this map.

I'm not so sure about that, Ryan. We know what works and what doesn't on StarCraft, not StarCraft 2. Snipers prospered for awhile because when it first came out, a lot of 11and 12 years olds with no concept of critical thought were playing it, and liked how easy it was to learn and exploit. And then a couple of years later, people began to work out some sort of angling system and get rid of trees and upgrades to make the map fair, and we've been getting progressively better at killing people who lock us first since then. If we, with over a decade of age and experience over ourselves back then, can't figure out an angling system today, then I just don't think our traditional ideas will work. There needs to be a way to semi-consistently kill people out in the open by way of strategy, or the game will eventually flop when kids start to learn to wonder why things aren't working, and why they can't get them to work.
In other words, I'm pulling like hell for our map to work. It's so stupid that Snipers became the most popular UMS game on SC for years, and now with a chance for an even wider audience and huge recongition, it may flop. I'm pretty sure Snipers is only second to DotA and maybe at one time, Evolves, for most popular custom map. Not counting all of the various unconnected bounds and defenses. Then again, Snipers had a lot of connected games, too. Sniper RPGs, Rainbow Six, laser Tag, Hide-n-Snipe, Speed Duels/Speedball, etc.

Yeah. I have made suggestions to change it so it had more of a feel to SC1 if it were supposed to be a direct port..
But IMO, the game we were used to playing was dying not just because of hackers, but the fact MORE INTERESTING GAMES ARE OUT
If we stuck to classic style, only veterans like us will play the map, if we made it new with different features and a different look, more players would be attracted to it.. that is the point. Most players are losing interest in a game with such a simple concept and now that all the skills we developed for SC1 are almost worthless in SC2, its not worth trying to make it be the same.

Sorry for the double. To answer your question, the other forum was made by Epinephrine and the other crew because most of the players on here shunned his map and didn't want to help him or give input, so he created a different forum without all these flamers on here.. the was the biggest reason.

This statement is true in regards to making a direct port map, which is what you guys are obviously trying to do. The other map was a piggy back with different features because of the fact a direct port isn't viable. Yeah his scoring and switches was a dumb idea and he didn't want to change it but that didn't really affect the game that much. Sniping in SC2 is far more different than SC1 and it will always be like that. Why not adapt to the SC2 system than try to make it like SC1? It just doesn't make sense.
If you want to snipe just like in SC1.. Play on SC1. Can't get more obvious than that.
