Hey guys, i was wondering if any of you had an extra beta key that wasnt being used,
if you do and arent using it, it would be awesome if i could borrow it from you, if not, ah well

I will be starting to map make a snipers map with direction from sniper and other veterans,
Any input will be helpful,
but in order to test the maps online i am going to need a key, if anybody has an extra emailed key that would be perfect.

Is this the best way to "unite" the sniper community? How come you talk about 2 forums disconnecting the community, but then you want to make ANOTHER map? What is wrong with coming together on a map already made that has been worked on by a huge group of people and is already a LONG way in development? Kind of hypocritical dont' you think?

Well...i talked to a couple sc1 veterans and they told me about all the sniper maps that developed i.e. solar, damein, etc. It's cool if you want to make your own rendition of the map, if you need help with triggers let me know.[COLOR="Silver"]

Yup, history will repeat itself on sc2. The Sc2 editor is virtually endless, I mean we can play under the map if we wanted to for god's sake.

What are you talking about hypocritical?
Hypocritical is saying you dont want to split the snipers community, and then going and making a 2nd forum saying you want it to be the snipers forum, when one is already existing.
Also an author named Galois1 has already made a snipers map for SC2 before you did. So whats the issue if i go ahead and make another version anyway. Its the same thing you did.

Lol yeah completely stupid idea. This is basically what happened with SC1 too, a nearly-perfect map was made (++) and then some idiot (AoD_AngelicWar) decided to make his own piece of shit version which for some reason people chose to use instead. Then here we are six years after drifts were all but eliminated still bitching about them.
Epin3phrin3 seems perfectly willing to cooperate, so if you have suggestions for his map, just tell him what you'd like to see in it.
He was unaware there was an existing map and when he found out immediately talked to the other author to get feedback and work together.

^if people chose to use it, obviously wasnt a pos
opinions arent facts.
and if my version if i do end up finishing it, will be up to the players to decide which is best obviously. I just want to give it a try and make my version of the map .

The map was a piece of shit and all of its introduced flaws have had to be ironed out over the years. Every mapmaker since him has had to deal with and correct them.
Splitting the community is stupid. If you want to make your own map, go for it, just be aware that it's a stupid thing to do. If you have proposed changes or other suggestions, make them?

So when SC II releases we will be seeing two Sniper Bald Locks on the game list? I rather not go through that cycle again.
Adding something entirely different to a sniper map like fps when entering a cliff (actually entering the cliff), different weapon graphics after each bonus, etc is cool and I promote that, but making a map that's no different from its predecessors is just confusing for people.
And I completely agree what Faz and what others have said, put all these maps under 1 sub forum so we can collage them together and make 1 bad ass map!
K thats not exactly what yall said.. but that would be cool.

Its just like I wasn't aware of either of those guys creating a map until it was brought to my attention someone posted his map on the sc2mapster website.
Making multiple versions of the same map is useless as have been experienced in the past. The best way to go about this situation is to create 1 map and have multiple authors to update it. This will particularly be helpful with this editor being that multiple people can work on it easier and puts less stress on each individual to fix an issue.
This also creates a much more interesting map and can give it huge potential to change the way we have played snipers. We have all talked about snipers needing a change.. well here it is.

Is there any means of protection included in the editor?

2 forums is not exactly the same as 2 maps Jimmy. However, I did make a post right after that one about how I would be able to help you out if you needed. It's right above Falselights post about history repeating itself.
Faz and Falselights and Savor pretty much have a bread and butter idea. Making 2 maps is confusing and it's dumb to have a popularity contest over them. If popularity is all you want...then you can upload the map and it will say "Author: JimmyBanks" on the list. I could care less bro..i want to play the game that's all. In addition, i give everyone props that make major contributions to the map on the Loading Screen if you manage to play the map. This isn't a map that "I" created alone...this is a collaboration of work and it's turning out AWESOME. I think more people contributing to it would make it EVEN MORE AWESOME. That does seem to be the pattern
On the other hand, i can't make the choice for you...but the spot is here if you want to leave suggestions and feedback or actually help work on the map. Right now the latest version is not even in my hands..Neanderthal (Scott) is working on the terrain and increasing the base size a little to give the snipers more of an advantage during rs. It was Falselights idea and Neanderthal is putting it to work

No need for "Protection"
When you upload a map to the community, its your map and the name cannot be taken. The name "I R Snipers" is now used for that map only.. nobody can edit it and make a fake.

Found the answer. But yeah, there is protection, you can make it so others can't open your map if you choose to.
