Chat channels are something that will be added in a patch sometime after the initial release. The system will be based around groups, where you will be able to join public channels that are based around your interests. Also the system will include private chat channels (in plans for release in the first few months after the release), where you will be able to connect with your friends.
Awesome game but B.net 2.0 is mediocre at best. At least we'll be getting chat channels in the future, more or less.
No Chat Channels
No Clans
No way to tell who made the game
Cant ban players if your host..well i havnt figured out how..
Adding friends is hard as hell; gotta know emails.
No Newb Locking...really gotta figure that out to make snipers fun..
Snipers Map ok but kinda boring
Melee is good, its fun...but again cant tell who made the games.
Channels were pretty useless. If you think about it, people in channels only talked to their friends anyways. I can still talk to my friends. They just filtered out all the floodbots and spam and stuff.
Why need clans when there are no channels?
Most of the games are just lobbies. chances are nobody's in there. It's probably to make it easier to host rather than having some people able to host and other's cant. I personally don't care who made the game.
You can ban. Right click them and remove lol
Emails is only for REALID. Just ask them for their account name and their number if you want to just add them.
..no comment on these, I haven't played snipers yet
most of the time people can matchmake so you won't be able to tell who's in the game anyways lol. if you're looking to play with certain people why not invite them to a game lol

Channels weren't "useless", they were a fantastic way of meeting up with friends or with your clan, just to chat, even if just to choose the next match to play. And saying clans aren't needed is a bit desperate - you don't need to defend the new battle.net, it's obviously lacking many things from the original.
I haven't tried it yet, but I read that you can only '/f m' to your RealID friends, which is stupid and only makes it harder to co-ordinate a match/map when there aren't channels to talk in.
They did say they will add in chat channels, but I have a feeling that it will be a part of the Heart of the Swarm expansion, which really is a shame. Withholding battle.net features to make people pay for them is pathetic, but I really wouldn't be that surprised if they did it.
I heard Blizzard was going to patch in chat channels.
They exclusively got rid of clans for a reason, so no shot at that coming back.
The point of recognizing a host is moot. Quick play, no host. Custom games, host but no reason to kick. It's only in snipers where you kick everyone without an original name and rep.
Friend's system is fantastic. Cross game with WoW and eventually D3 is very nice. Also, it eliminates any smurf/many hackers because you can't hop 50 names and hide. Sure some people will get around it, but it's not worth the risk to hack on a game that takes 3 scrolls down the list to get to.
The game is friggin outstanding. BNET 2.0 is fucking fail.
I second this, but I did read that apparently Battle.net 2.0 is still underdevelopment so keep your hopes up, I'm sure a lot of the things that it was lacking will improve in the next patch.
