      Upgrading Your Computer for SC2?

If you want to simply be able to run SC2 you don't need a really expensive computer. The other day on my day off I rebuilt my stepdad's computer using old parts that I had lying around (Yeah shh) and he can now run it very smoothly on medium settings.
Here's a rundown of his specs: (I didn't really memorize it lol so don't ask me super detailed questions about them)

      550W PSU
EVGA 8600 GT x2 superclocked in SLI
      Core 2 Duo E4500 I think, stock 2.2 overclocked to 3.0
      XFX 680i mobo.. I think.
      250GB HD
OCZ Vendetta CPU cooler, but a Core 2 Quad stock cooler works nicely as well

That should all be really cheap.

My friend and I also wanted to price out something similar to my performance and it came up to around $700, assuming a lot of the parts were transferrable, like monitor keyboard etc.

well I think if you order it online you might have a choice to get it assembled for a fee of like $50 or something. Or if you've got a lot of friends, which I know you do (right? ) you can get one of them to assemble it. Everyone's got a friend who's good with computers lol

And hey, pay attention when they do. Learn something

I upgraded a year ago. My folks convinced me to get a prebuilt comp. I would have saved about $200 if I build it myself.

      My comp

same videocard I have, except yours is the 1gb version and mine is 512. But I have two of them. Only need more VC ram for heavy textures and a larger screen

      EDIT:
Speaking of which.. what do you guys think of this? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...2E16811103011R
I think I'm going to get that. Major creamage right there.

      Haha
Legos were weird. what I realized as I grew up is that my friends and I would try to build the most indestructible thing and bid them against eachother. It was dumb. Yet extremely amusing!

Hello comp geeks (Ghosty Druzil ) I decided I'll get a comp to run SC2, can any of you tell me what to get? I want it to run smoothly! Possibly at max settings too. I DO NOT want to invest a million dollars in this so the cheaper the better! What I really want to know is the cost of a computer like this. If you guys can find me a built-up comp online that is good or if you could tell me what to get in the computer and how much it costs (i rly know nothing so u should NAME the things lol) so that I can go to a store and ask for this to be built or even build me one online ;D would be cool, YEAH? Newegg.ca - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! Let's start by going here. If you're looking for something max settings then it will cost more.
But let's start out by telling us your current specs right now, so we can figure out what's transferrable and don't need to buy, things like dvd drive and stuff.

Also it doesn't have to be maxmax but like the better I can get without having to double the price or someshit

Download Speccy by Piriform. That program will tell you everything you have haha. If you don't really know.. just take a screenshot of each category lol
Another question is are you willing to overclock :P because that helps

Overclocking makes your processor and or videocard run faster than it runs at factory settings. Basically, with the right cooling and a little luck, you can get a pretty fuckin rocking system for low cost. This might add like $50 to get a semi-decent cooler for your processor, but no problem.

Try to add in what kind of monitor you have too, like max resolution, because that factors in haha
