"we can make do, we can live without"
...Bro This is snipers, its these small elements that make the game fun, Sc2 Snipers will be trash. It just won't be the same, it seems your losing more of the core values, than you would be gaining.
Starcraft Brood War has a simplicity about it that makes it fun to play.
Starcraft 2 is just like any other new RTS out there. It's lost more than its gained. The only thing that will be great is the campaign. Frankly if they fuck that up, I am sad about the release of Sc2.
This UMS Map Brought all of us together, Something 'new' on sc2 that has lost the feel of snipers? Who'd wanna play that?! I log onto sc every time to Play Snipers. Thats the game i want, not something completely different. Fuck that i'd rather sit here forever not playing sc2 and wait for d3.
No thank u 2 SC2 Snipers.

And you're positive this is the case? Oh well. Blinds will still work, won't they? I thought LazeR said there was a way to alter the fog of war disappearance. Even if it doesn't quite work out for snipers, Laser Tag might still be fun.

To oragami:
HS: We didn't learn how to use this everytime someone was about to blind us until like 2005. before that, it was mainly just luck hsing.
SHS: Didn't come around until 2004, and we didn't know how to use it as a technique (facing the people) until well over a year or more later.
D-lock: Didn't come around until 2006.
Glitching: As the glitching king, I understand completely the uniqueness this technique adds to the game, but even I can understand that without glitches, there would be less sitting, less lazy play, and everything would be more fast-paced. I'm not at all against that.
All of these moves I said we could give up, I say so because we were all playing highly and competitively for a good five years before any of this stuff came along. I understand where you're coming from, but change is going to happen. You didn't give up and say "fuck this, this ain't snipers. This isn't what I'm used to and what brought us all together" when they gave upgrades the axe. And you didn't say that when they god rid of trees, either. You also didn't say it when Locks replaced Walks. If you think about it, this game has gone through three or four major revisions that have made it a drastically diferent game. It won't be exactly the same, but there's no reason we can't at least TRY to make this fun before we give up.

Every single one of those things revolutionized the game and made it unique and fun.
I dont want something new.. if its new id play a different game. I like what makes Snipers fun.. Thats why i play it
-
Well the reality as it stands right now is that Snipers won't work. If they fix some of the features with the editor, it would be possible. But for now, everytime you stand next to a cliff, your camera raises and there is no way to get past that. So until then its not worth remaking.
-
Hm. We'll have to see when the game is released. Surely the editor will be boosted.
And yeah, I know what you're saying Oragami. All of those things did revolutionize the game. But that doesn't change the fact that we went for half a decade without any of those techniques, and still stood by the game when it changed radically from standard to standard. There's no reason why we can't do it again, right now. The cliff thing is so far the only hurdle I'd say we can't overcome, unless someone releases a different editor or something.
At any rate, maybe it's just not meant to be.
-
Im sure that feature in the editor will be fixed because a lot of people are making third person RPGs and they are complaining about that problem.
But yeah.. as I said earlier.. this game will probably only continue as a third person shooter.. cause top down will not work not nearly as close as we want it to be... plus.. third person seems to be more fun
-
Well even if snipers doesn't work for sc2 i'm still pumped about the melee...

"Half a decade without"
Yah half a decade before we turned it into an actual community with a forum with actual SBR standings Recordings, and all that good shit.
Yes we have a small community, but that is no reason to stop sniping guys, we all met eachother thru this lil UMS game, were all pros at it. lets continue to play fuck it..
-
This is probably the smallest I've ever seen this community, tbh. And I'm sure it's going to get even smaller if SC2 comes and there's no sniper maps to play on it. Once SC2 comes out I'm not so sure I'll even get on SC that much anymore - and i'm sure atleast a few other people feel the same.
Half the fun of snipes was figuring out new techniques - learning new ways of doing things. There are bound to be little quirks in SC2 that while not apparent now, are going to be found useful in snipers, Just like there were in SC1. Who the hell cares if we don't have all the same shit on the same graphically updated map? That sounds boring as hell.

If you can mount units on other units, change/add unit abilities and edit fog of war/camera, I'm sure we can develop a skillful and competitive game that's just as fun as Sniper Bald Locks. I'm not looking forward to any third person shooter as of yet though.

Only boring cause u arnt very good @ SC1. You can't win the majority so now you rely on SC2 to hopefully make you a better player.
It wont happen.
-
lol.
Lol, w/e man. I play like 4 games a week if that, and I tend to win the ones I do play. On another note, I'm tired of listening to you talk shit, everyone knows you hack the fuck out of this. Only reason you want snipes to stay on SC is so you don't have to go out and find new ones.
Now that we've got that all cleared up, If anyone wants to test ghosts in SC2 with me and see if we can figure out new techniques, my ID is Aurora.Toxic.

cleared up. Yah like i cleared u off the board.
I used to hack and I openly admitted it, THE WHOLE TIME.
So whoever you 'talked to'
or 'heard from'
it's nice to know you listen to what you 'hear'.
I've recorded videos plenty of times so No, I don't hack.
Don't use that as an excuse for losing 2 me.
-
Lol, get over yourself. Just because you aren't "Openly Admitting" it now, doesn't mean you're not doing it. Your word is shit, and the only way I'll ever believe you don't hack is if you record and post EVERY game you play.
But, I've wasted enough of my time arguing w/ arrogant pieces of shit like yourself over the years. I'm done w/ this argument. Rest assured If you respond to this, It won't be read by me.
-
You're being awfully hostile, Oragami. That response to Aurora's first post was pretty much entirely uncalled for. You're the only person who seems to be absolutely 100% against a Starcraft II remake. If it's that damn much of a big deal, then maybe you should just cut your losses and find a new game. The rest of us at least want to remain cautiously hopeful. That's not a fucking crime.

I am the best sniper Ever
-
Well thank God for that. We all gotta have something going for us
-
I got a beta key today, and played sc2 for the first time. It's an amazing game for melee. It's a waste to buy the game to play a one dimensional mini game of snipers.
-
Theres much more to this game than just Snipers.. I want to enjoy all aspects of the UMS realm. Not worth fighting for Snipers imo.
