Is my CPU fast enough to run SC2?
I recently got SC2 but it's just too laggy for me to play... not internet-wise but there's so much screen lag. It's hard to scroll around the map because it's so unresponsive and slow!
Here are my specs
OS Name Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Version 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Manufacturer GATEWAY
System Model GT5438
System Type X86-based PC
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz, 1799 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Time Zone Central Daylight Time
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 1.99 GB
Available Physical Memory 1.23 GB
Total Virtual Memory 4.90 GB
Available Virtual Memory 3.79 GB[COLOR="Silver"]
Video card Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
Please help me because I really want to play this... but I can't enjoy it with the lag. Give me suggestions on what I should do to play smoothly on low-medium settings.

turn all the settings on the lowest possible.
i have a win7 64bit, 2.2ghz dual core, 4gb ram, pos nvidia8400gs gpu, and everything needs to be on the bottom. your specs are a little lower so ull definitely need it on lowest possible.
also make sure its on fullscreen mode as windowed modes will drop your frame rate speed

Its because you have an integrated video card. Your ram is probably cheap, and your computer is Gateway.
You need a new computer bud, build one
-
that and your processor IS slow lol
-
no way, not even on lowest settings! How do you check your fps anyways?

ctrl+alt+f in game

Ur video card is really the only problem.
The processor is pretty low, but its no big deal.
Get a ATI Radeon HD 5450, its 30-40 bucks new, and will run SC2 just fine.
Sc2 by current gaming standards actually isn't that demanding at all, so a gfx card should do the trick.

That is from the website.. check into those things..
But i still say get a new computer.. gateway is crap and the game probably wont even run very well if u just got a video card upgrade.. remember.. the bottle neck isn't always the vid card.

Well for smooth gameplay on low/moderate settings it is. The only thing ull need a faster processor for is Ultra perhaps.
How bout this Reactor, try my method, and if it fails, go to Savor's idea [which I dont oppose, but dont find necessary]
And if you do the full upgrade, u can use the new graphics card in it as its a PCI-E.
Its a win-win

When he gets into big battles with just a vid card upgrade, he will lag.. possibly even lag out. Even on low settings.
-
Or just max it all out like a G
-
Grab a heatsink and overclock

It's relieve who needs the help lol. I ran Starcraft 2 on low for awhile with these things..
2.4ghz quadcore
8400 nvidia
4gigs of ddr2 ram
and a 700 PSU
It still lagged during big battles, but then I switched to a 5770 Radeon, and maxed out no problem. Starcraft 2 is great, but on ultra it's amazing.
So really i'd suggest for relieve is... what's going on in life, and if he's financially set. Cause building a computer even cheap strong builds costs like 500-700$.

Dude if you are a gamer, that aint shit.

I put together my stepdad's computer to run SC2. Two 8600 superclocked in SLI and overclocked core2duo to 3ghz and he runs the game perfectly on medium, maybe even high but I didn't try it. Cheap build with old parts.
Why the hell do you have a 700W PSU with an 8400 LOL even if you upgraded your videocard, that's still such a waste of power given that it isn't really being used. Just trying to futureproof your PSU? lool
-
nah, my uncle gave me it. I just went out and bought other parts.
-
reactor shut the fuck up you piece of shit
-
uhh sorry... not sure what I did.. who are you?
